After their first trip to Brazil in 2024, the NFL is running it in 2025.
The league announced Wednesday that the Los Angeles Chargers will serve as designated teams for the match in Sao Paulo.
For the second year in a row, the Brazilian match will be held on the Friday night of the first week (September 5, 2025) at the Corinthian Arena. The ultimate Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, defeated the Green Bay Packers in their NFL debut Brazil game last year.
The Chargers opponents will be announced in the spring when the full 2025 schedule is revealed.
Los Angeles’ home opponents next season include the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Philadelphia Eagles, Commander of Washington, Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings. Of course, the Eagles will not travel as they will play the day before in the NFL kickoff game. The Steelers are scheduled to play for Ireland and the Colts will be in Germany, so they may be off the table. This leaves the Chiefs, Raiders, Broncos, Texans, Commanders and Vikings as potential options.
There are currently seven international games scheduled for next season, including two return hosts and three newcomers. London (Browns, Jets and Jaguar) has three games, and will be joining as a host who will return to Brazil. Berlin (Colts), Germany, will be holding their first game after Munich and Frankfurt take part in the 2022 rotation. Dublin (Stealers) in Ireland, Madrid and Spain (Dolphins) will become new host cities and countries in 2025.
The NFL has already won a jump start on the 2026 international slate. Australia’s Melbourne was recently announced as the first host of that season, with the Los Angeles Rams acting as a designated team. Until 2024, there are 55 international games in the history of the NFL, with chargers playing three times overseas (two in London and once in Mexico City).
