An alternative Ohio teacher has been accused of providing $2,000 to students to kill their estranged husband before the teenage mother caught the winds of a murder-employed conspiracy and the winds of authorities who were warned.

Stephanie Demetrius, 44, was arrested Wednesday and charged with a first-time conspiracy to offer a boy at Urban Scollers High School in Columbus, WSYX reported.

Demetrius approached a student at the school on March 26th, offered $2,000, and soon committed the murder of her ex-husband. Students were initially paid $250 in cash as a down payment.

“This particular teacher was trying to get this young man to commit murder,” police sergeant to the Columbus division. James Fukua told Whisicks.

The plan failed when a student mother discovered a text between him and Demetrius on her son’s phone. The teenager’s mother later reported the incident to the police.

“Without their help, some of this might not have been revealed,” Fuka said. “This was a situation in which parents would capture things on this young man’s phone and contact the authorities.”

On a recorded call between the student and Demetrius, the alternative teacher told the student he would receive the remaining payments and said he was owing an additional “15.”

The alternative teacher also gave students information about when her child would leave the house, so he could kill her estranged husband who worked from home, court records show, according to Columbus’ dispatch.

“When asked if her neighbor would hear the shooting, she advised that they didn’t care about her neighbor,” the court recorded the state, the outlet reported.

Demetrius and her husband have been married since 2004 but have been undergoing divorce proceedings, court records show.

She appeared in Franklin County City Court on Thursday morning, where her public defense attorney denied the allegations and criticised them as manufacturing.

Prosecutor Parker Schwartz said Demetrius’s estranged husband received a protective order against her. Schwartz also pointed out that Demetrius exhibited “ownerly and controlled behavior,” suffering from mental health issues and previously poses a threat of murder.

Court filings show that she previously assaulted her estranged husband and some of her children, set fire to the basement of her house, destroying garage doors, hurting other property while the children were present, and being accused of other threatening behaviour.

Demetrius was released on a $150,000 bond and is prohibited from contacting an estranged husband or student. She is scheduled to return to court on April 11th.
