Republicans on the House Oversight Committee have not ruled out the potentially persuasive exclusions for former President Joe Biden and former Lady Jill Biden to appear in Congress as part of an investigation into whether signs of Biden’s mental decline were covered up during his time at the White House.
“All options are on the table. We’re going to get answers. We’re trying to do this quickly,” House Oversight Committee Chairman James Kommer, R-KY, told reporters when asked if the former president could bring him in for questions.
“As a committee, we’ll decide what steps should be taken next and who should bring in. But for now, I think all the options are on the table.”
R-Fla. Rep. Byron Donald was noting that in his demand for a more well-known witness, he was speaking for himself, not for the committee.

“As far as I’m concerned, I need to summon all the members of the Biden administration at this point. I don’t care if they’re secretaries or not. I don’t care if they’re the admins who work there.
When asked if that meant former first lady, Donald replied “Of course.”
He and Kommer were present in the closed deposition of longtime aide Anthony Bernal to Jill Biden, who was summoned in an oversight committee investigation.
“Her right arm – hearing, Anthony Bernal was her right arm. That’s her man, her chief of staff,” Donald said. “If he comes here and sues the fifth, I’m sorry, but former first lady, she has to come here and answer the questions.”
As the house probe gets hot, he says “I never worried” about Biden’s mental state before.

Comer is investigating whether Biden’s former top White House aide hides signs of his mental and physical decline during his tenure and has been commissioned via Autoopen without the full knowledge of the president. The Biden allies opposed these claims.
In an interview with the New York Times on Thursday, Biden declared himself “made all the decisions.”
Bernal is the fourth former White House aide who sits down to ask questions on Comer’s surveillance probe. He and his lawyer left the committee room less than an hour after they entered.

Comer and Donalds said that GOP lawmakers pushed back their claims but argued that calling the Fifth Amendment was not a guilty acknowledgment.
Donald said it was a “surprising” move.
So far, three Biden aides have been summoned in the investigation. Like Bernal, former White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor called the Fifth Amendment. Former Deputy Chief of Staff Annie Tomasini was also summoned at the request of his attorney.
