The Pentagon fired its commander at US Space Force Base in Greenland after distancing from Vice President JD Vance, who recently visited headquarters.
After the Vice President’s visit, Colonel Susanna Myers wrote on March 31st to basic staff, “We don’t expect to understand politics at the moment, but the concerns of the US administration discussed by Vice President Vance on Friday do not reflect Pitafik Spatial Base.”
She added, “I spent the weekend thinking about my Friday visit – the actions taken, the words spoken, and how it must have affected each of you.” This email was first reported by silever.com.
The Space Force said in an official statement that Myers was released from the order “due to loss of trust in her abilities.”
We accuse the Greenlanders of treating them as “second class citizens” during their visit to the Arctic Circle.

“Commanders are expected to adhere to the highest standards of conduct, especially as they are related to remaining independent in the performance of their duties,” the statement read.
Colonel Sean Lee is now taking on the order, Space Force said.
“An action to undermine the order chain or overturn President Trump’s agenda will not be tolerated by the Department of Defense,” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell posted on X.
According to a Facebook post about the Change-of-Command ceremony, Meyers became commander of the 821st Space Base Group in July.
Republican Sens. Tommy Tuberville, Alabama, Missouri Eric Schmidt, Jim Banks and Indiana all praised the commander’s firing at X.
“Colonel Myers tried to politicize the Space Force and took accountability. Lloyd Austin is no longer a Secdef,” Banks wrote.

Vance criticized Denmark for treating Greenlander as a “second-class citizen” when he visited the snowy island.
“The message to Denmark is very simple,” Vance said. “You’re not doing a good job from the people of Greenland. You’re not invested in the people of Greenland, and you’re not familiar with the safety of this incredibly beautiful land.”
The Vice President further accused Denmark of not keeping Greenland safe from China and Russia.
Vance was the best official to travel to Pitafik’s base, the White House said.
The Trump administration has made Greenland the biggest goal.
“We need Greenland for national and international security,” Trump said on March 11.

“So I think we’ll go as long as we have to go,” the president continued from his oval office. “We need Greenland, and the world needs Greenland, including Denmark. We need Denmark to have Greenland, and we know what you know.
“I look at it from a security standpoint and we have to be there,” Trump added.
