This process is underway to restore gas to several homes in Rancho Palos Verdes, which had been without service for nearly a year due to the land movement in the area.
Seaview area residents will be the first to see the utility crew on Tuesday morning. However, there are processes that need to be run first.
According to a Socalgas spokesman, the first residents to restore services are those who live on cheers, praiseworthy, and dauntless drives.
On Tuesday, the utility crew was set up to mark a line for installation. Residents will be notified on Wednesday of installation work scheduled to begin Thursday.
Then, in June, for the next few weeks, crews begin door-to-door visits to find people who want to recover natural gas and prepare their homes. Homeowners receive advanced notifications before crew members knock on the door.
Maria Martinez, Director of Gas Engineering at SoCalgas, said: “Given the sustained decline in land movement, we look forward to a safe recovery of natural gas services for those ready to reunite.”
The land in the Rancho Palos Verdes community is moving slowly, and gas has stopped as it saw the biggest move last year.
According to Socalgas, the accelerated land movement began to have a major impact on utility infrastructure and homes in communities in the towns of Rancho Palos Verdes and Rolling Hills, demanding that some homes be cut off from natural gas services to promote public safety.
A spokesperson for Socalgas said the decline in land movements is enabling services to be restored.
Portugal’s bent community is still experiencing significant land movements, and it is not safe for Socalgas to recover gas.
According to Socalgas, it is expected that the construction and restoration of natural gas in the Seaview community will take 4-5 weeks.
Seaview Holmes along Palos Verdes Drive South will be evaluated for subsequent restorations.
