The Los Angeles area can expect precipitation of light on Monday morning, predictors say. The rain, which is scheduled to begin late Sunday, will subside by Monday afternoon, but below average temperatures will hang all week, according to the National Weather Service.
Kristan Lund, a meteorologist at the federal agency’s Oxnard office, was set to enter “the movement of rain overnight and tomorrow morning.”
“We could see from a quarter inch to a half inch,” Lund said Sunday.
Expect a period of light rain until Monday morning. The impact is minor and there is no anticipation of large-scale flooding or debris flow threats. The storm total is generally 0.25-0.50 inches, except for locally 0.50-1.00 inches in Santa Naz/Santalcia MTNS. #laweather #cawx #larain pic.twitter.com/qloasaodyq

The heaviest rainfall is expected Sunday at around 10pm or 11pm, she said. “And it’s tapering, it’s going to be very light across East County in the morning and it’s going to happen late tomorrow.”
Rain is rarely expected and is not expected to affect debris flow areas.
“Thankfully, there are no concerns,” Lund said.
Precipitation and sub-average temperatures are being driven by weather systems from the Pacific Northwest, she said.
Precipitation is expected to end on Monday, but cold weather is expected for several days. Temperatures are expected to be between 5 and 12 degrees Celsius across Los Angeles and Ventura counties, Lund said.
“This continues throughout the majority of the week, if not the entire week,” she said. “It’s close to normal by the weekend.”
