Mike Johns, founder of AI strategy firm Digital Mind State, told KTLA that while he was in Scottsdale, Arizona, on business last week, he decided to take a Waymo robotaxis to the airport to return to Los Angeles. .
This is the second time he has used this service.
The trip started normally. Johns got into the back seat of the car, fastened his seatbelt, and Waymo started driving.
However, instead of going to the airport, the car drove in circles for several minutes, leaving him stranded and feeling dizzy.
To make matters worse, Johns said Waymo’s customer service only made matters worse.
“Someone at the control tower noticed there was a problem and tried to fix it, but the problem is they told me to try using my cell phone to fix the problem.” he told KTLA.

The car was eventually able to stop after about 10 consecutive laps, but Johns said the experience raised concerns about self-driving car safety and customer service.
“The feeling was very unpleasant. The car was just circling and it was like I was tied up and couldn’t open the door,” he said.
Waymo did not immediately respond to Johns’ complaint or KTLA’s request for comment.
