The mother of a 7-year-old girl was arrested after her child was found dead in Van Nuiss’ apartment on Friday night.
Los Angeles police responded to a report of a child not breathing in an apartment building in the 6800 block of Sepulveda Boulevard at 5:14pm.
Police have joined a two-storey unit of a family that was found to be unresponsive in the bathtub.

Neighbors told KTLA’s John Fenolio that the three reportedly lived in the home. A 7 year old girl with a man and a woman.
The neighbor reportedly found the girl’s invigorating body and began screaming for help when he arrived home. Police have not confirmed whether the man is the girl’s parent or guardian.
Neighbors said the girl’s mother was found to be suffering from an injury that looked like a laceration.
The woman was detained. Video of the scene shows her being kicked out of her wheelchair from a wheelchair apartment with her wrist restrained by the handle of a chair.
The circumstances surrounding the girl’s death remain unknown. Further details, including her identity, were not released due to an investigation into the murder being underway.
