Two brothers who attended Santa Ana High School were arrested in a campus stab wound incident, killing one student and two others injured.
The 17- and 15-year-old brothers appeared at police station headquarters with their parents and were dressed later Wednesday, hours after the fatal stab wounds.
She said two teenagers were arrested, arrested and taken to the juvenile hall, where they had been booked for murder and attempted murder. She said the weapons used in the attack remained missing.
The incident occurred Wednesday at 3:25pm when Santa Ana school police officers reported a stab wound that occurred in a fight in front of Santa Ana High School.
At least three male students, ages 14, 15 and 16, were found stabbed wounds and were taken to a local hospital by fire emergency personnel.
Police said the 14-year-old died of injuries and the other two victims were listed as stable.
The slain boy was identified as Armando Morales of Santa Ana by an Orange County Coroner’s Officer and a GofundMe page was created by his family to raise funds for funeral costs.
Misael Morales writes that his brother is a happy and clever child known for making people laugh.
The victim’s cousin Jazmin Delgado reflected those words in an interview with ABC 7.
“He was always a happy child, always loved help, he was just an amazing little kid,” Delgado told the station. Armando’s family said the teen was in the wrong place at the wrong time. They said he was intervening to help his friend when he was stabbed.
The murder investigators believed that the five teenagers involved were suspected of being gang members and were investigating the stab wounds as gang-related. However, what caused the conflict remained during the investigation.
She said investigators also believed that one weapon was being used in the attack and had not been able to find it before.
The murder detective is continuing to investigate the stab wounds and is asking potential witnesses to contact investigators at Orange County Crime Stoppers at (714) 245-8390 or 1-855-TIP-OCC.
