A senior State Department official told Fox News that not only student visa holders, but all visa holders associated with Harvard University, are under scrutiny.
In addition to student visas, the Department of State conducts substantive investigations of B-1 or business visas. B-2 or tourist visa. Like others, authorities said.
This investigation aims to identify potential security vulnerabilities or other abuses in the visa system.
This probe can affect hundreds of people associated with elite schools and can reveal whether the people entering with the alleged connections really have an actual or more tenuous connection.

Fox News Digital learned earlier that day that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was eliminating Harvard’s student visa program due to “terrorist actions” in the campus protests.
The move is a serious consequence in response to what DHS claims is Harvard’s refusal to comply with student visa holders’ records of conduct.
“This administration is responsible for Harvard University’s promotion of violence, anti-Semitism and coordinating it with the Chinese Communist Party on campus,” DHS Chief Christa Noem said. “It’s not a right, not a right, to benefit from tuition payments, to help universities register international students and give hundreds of thousands of dollars. Harvard had many opportunities to do the right thing, and refused.
Trump has accused Harvard of being “very late.”
Demonstrators will meet on April 25, 2025 in Cambridge, showing support for Palestinians outside Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in protest of Harvard’s stance on Harvard University.
Harvard may no longer register international students in the 2025-2026 grade, and existing foreign students will have to transfer or lose their legal status to reside in the United States before the next grade begins.

Noem provided Harvard 72 hours to provide information that was asked to have the opportunity to regain the visa program in the next grade.

She called the move “the direct result of adhering to simple reporting requirements for the direct result of Harvard’s grand failure.”
Meanwhile, Harvard argued that the termination was “illegal.”
Last month, Harvard announced that it would allow foreign students to accept admissions at both Harvard and foreign universities as backup amid the threat of the Harvard administration blocking approval to host them. Typically, students must accept Harvard registration by May 1st and cannot commit to another university.
At least 12 Harvard students have been granted permission to study in the United States, which has been revoked through campus protests.
The Trump administration has already frozen nearly $3 billion in federal funding for universities, focusing primarily on research, and has begun research across departments of the Judicial, Education and Health and Human Services. They argue that Harvard University has addressed campus anti-Semitism and has not eradicated diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in its policies.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced Wednesday that the US will “actively” launch visas to “aggressively” revoke visas for Chinese students, including those studying in important fields.
He also told Congress this week. The State Department said it would likely “revoke thousands of student visas and “pridefully” more by this point.
“We are here as guests and are trying to cancel visas for those who are disrupting our higher education facilities,” he said Tuesday. “Visa is a privilege, not a right.”
The crackdown on university policies comes after protests and waves of camps swept schools across the country since the start of the Israeli attack campaign to eradicate Hamas after the university administration pressured it to sell from Israel on October 7th.
