According to multiple media reports, the 56-year-old suspect in the fatal shooting of Jonathan Joss, who called out the character John Red Corn in the popular animated series “King of the Hill” reportedly voiced John Red Corn.

The tragic violence unfolded on June 1 at Dorsey Drive, San Antonio, Texas, around 7pm.

At the scene, local police found the 59-year-old actor near the road.

“Officers have attempted life-saving measures until EMS arrives. EMS has declared that the victim has passed away,” police said in a statement.

Joss’ former neighbor, 56-year-old Sigfredo Arabales Seja, was taken into custody at the crime scene, and police later said in a report, “I immediately said, ‘I shot him.’

The police report obtained by people also detailed the timeline leading up to fatal violence, saying that the woman told Joss and his husband that he would receive mail in his previous residence.

Seja reportedly approached the couple after the couple arrived, parked the vehicle just behind the car and began arguing with the victims.

In a June 2 post on Facebook, the actor’s husband, Tristan Kern De Gonzales, alleged that the violence was linked to homophobia and that police had ignored previous reports of threats against them.

“My husband, Jonathan Joss and I got caught up in a shooting while checking mail on the property of our previous home, which burned out after more than two years of threat from people in the area who repeatedly said they would burn it,” Gonzalez wrote. “We reported these threats multiple times to law enforcement, but nothing was done. During that time, we were regularly harassed by individuals who revealed they had not accepted our relationship. Much of the harassment was openly homophobic.”

Gonzalez said the couple saw the skull and harness of one of the three dogs while receiving the mail.

When they were overcome with grief on the site, he says that Seja began screaming “homophobic slur” in the pair before he raised his gun and fired at them.

“Jonathan and I didn’t have weapons. We weren’t threatening anyone. We were sad. When the man fired, Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life,” Gonzalez wrote. “He was murdered by someone who couldn’t stand the sight of two men who loved each other.”

The initial statement from police argued that there was no evidence linking Joss’ sexual orientation to his murder. However, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus went back to the allegations Thursday, calling the previous statement “premature.” He confirmed that investigators were considering whether homophobia plays a role.

“The King of the Hill” creator Mike Judge Greg Daniels and Saladin Patterson said in a statement:

In addition to “King of the Hill,” Joss appeared in “Parks and Recreation,” “Raidnovan,” “Tulsa King,” and “The Magnificent Seven.”
