On the third night, a group of demonstrators gathered outside the federal metropolitan detention center in downtown Los Angeles late Friday to continue a series of anti-ice protests that were once again tense throughout the week.
Just after 10pm, protesters were seen blocking the roads on Aliso and Alameda Streets, waving flags and chanting that scattered traffic would slow the crawl. X-posts from the LAPD Central Division warned drivers to avoid the area as demonstrators stood in the middle of the road, urging drivers to use Los Angeles Street for north- and south-bound traffic.
Videos shared with the KTLA showed people on the road, supported by cars passing by occasionally passing, and several protesters shouted at LAPD officers and national guard members with tactical equipment. Federal officers reportedly requested LAPD backup at about the same time for what was called an attack on federal officers, but no arrests were made, and most of the crowd cleared the area by 1am

Friday’s demonstration was particularly smaller and less confrontational than the previous two nights, including excessive arrests and allegations of excessive force.
The series of protests began Wednesday following unconfirmed social media reports regarding immigration enforcement actions in the Los Angeles area, but ICE has not confirmed immigration-related operations.
It remains unclear whether the protest will continue over the weekend as authorities have not declared any of the three nights an illegal rally.
