The Justice Department on Monday asked the Supreme Court to deny the sex trafficking trust claims of Jeffrey Epstein’s associate Ghilaine Maxwell.

Maxwell, 63, was found guilty at a ju judge in New York in 2021 out of five counts including minors and conspiracy sex trafficking. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Maxwell sued her conviction that she should be thrown out for several reasons, including in 2007 the plea deal and restrictions law that Epstein reached the federal government.

Jeffrey Epstein died of suicide, no client list: DOJ

Although the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit refused to appeal her, Maxwell argued that what immunity is granted through non-predictive agreements received by the Circuit in 2007, what immunity is granted, and the Supreme Court’s weight should be considered.

Maxwell serves her sentence in Tallahassee, Florida. It is set to end in 2037.

DOJ’s response to the High Court comes after a recent rage amongst President Donald Trump’s supporters, by announcing that no new information has been released in relation to Epstein’s case. Epstein was charged with a minor sex trafficking woman in 2019, but he died before he was brought to trial. Authorities determined that his death was caused by suicide.

Some Trump DOJ officials had advanced theories that the government was hiding information related to the Epstein case, but they have returned those claims.

Congress could appeal to Maxwell to testify before lawmakers. Citing an anonymous source, Daily Mail reported on Monday that Maxwell was interested in doing it. Maxwell’s attorneys did not respond to requests for comment on the Fox News Digital report.

However, her lawyer took a jab with Trump on DOJ’s position on Maxwell’s suit.

“I would be surprised if President Trump knew that his lawyers were asking the Supreme Court to ask the government to break the deal,” said lawyer David Oscar Marx. “He is the ultimate deal maker, and I’m sure the US agrees that when they give that word, they should protect it. It’s particularly unfair that Gislaine Maxwell remains in prison based on the promises made by the government.”
