On Thursday, the Trump administration imposed sanctions on four judges in the International Criminal Court over allegations against Israel.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced sanctions against Uganda’s Solomy Barungi Bossa, Peru’s Ruz del Carmen Ibañez Carranza, Benin’s Rain Adelaide Sophie Arapini Gunsou and Slovenia’s Betty Holler.
“These individuals were directly engaged in efforts by the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate, arrest, detain or prosecute US or Israeli citizens without consent from the United States or Israel,” Rubio said.

Sanctions against the Hague-based court are linked to the February 6 executive order.
He signed an executive order punishing the ICC in response to a May 2024 arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli former Defence Minister Joa Garant, and condemned them of crimes and crimes against humanity amid Israel’s ongoing conflict against Hamas.

Rubio said four ICC judges were “actively involved in the ICC’s illegal and unfounded actions targeting the United States or our intimate ally, Israel.”
“The ICC is politicized and falsely asserts its free discretion to investigate, claim and prosecute the citizens of the United States and our allies,” he said. “This dangerous claim and abuse of power violates the sovereignty and national security of the United States and our allies, including Israel.”

He said the United States will take “any action that is deemed necessary” to protect the sovereignty of Israel and other US allies from “illegal actions by the ICC.”
Rubio noted that court members would push back to the court for “disgraced attacks” against the US and Israel, saying “many of their freedoms were purchased at the cost of American sacrifices.”
Fox News Digital is in contact with the ICC.
The ICC will only file lawsuits if domestic law enforcement authorities cannot or do not investigate. Israel is not a member of the court.

Despite the warrants of Netanyahu and Gallant, the court has no police authority to enforce the warrant. Instead, they choose to rely on cooperation from member states.
