The Trump administration plans to join undocumented immigrants in registration

The Trump administration announced on Tuesday that it plans to open registrations requiring domestic immigrants, including children, to submit personal information and fingerprints. Those who are at least 14 years old and do not comply can face fines and misdemeanor prosecutors.

The program, which was immediately attacked by immigration rights advocates, targets people who have never encountered immigration officers in the past, strengthens immigration laws and promotes deportation. fuss about the deluge of Trump.

It is unclear how people will register, but the Department of Homeland Security will prepare all individuals in the country without legal status by creating an account with US Citizenship and Immigration Services, or USCIS. I’m looking for it. The agency said it will release a registration form and process soon.

“Aliens do not make excuses for not following this law,” the announcement said, noting that the registry is not a form of legal status and does not establish employment permits.

Agency officials cited national security and the safety of American citizens when establishing the program. According to details posted on the USCIS website, immigrants over the age of 18 must post evidence of their registration “always” and “always.” The program was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.

President Trump outlined his intention to create such a registration in an executive order issued on his first day in office. The program is based on the Alien Registration Act of 1940 and was enacted due to the rage of World War II in Europe, requiring most non-citizens to sign up. Everyone has barred anyone from advocating for overthrow of the government, imposed fines, and fines in prison for up to six months for failure to register.

President George W. Bush created a registration for immigrants from the Muslim country following the September 11 terrorist attacks. Thousands of people who registered have been deported.

“To all of us, how bad it is to have that conversation with your family, and as the government puts people in that position, they are popular and at the same time they put people in that position. I encourage you to imagine it being there. Heidi Altman, vice president of policy at the National Center for Immigration Law, said: “We cannot see this registry announcement on its own.”

Altman said it is unclear what the process will look like as the online registry system is not yet set up. She and other supporters plan to monitor the details in detail so that they can assess its legality. Already, she said there are many questions about legality and syntheticity.

“When governments ask people to move forward with all sorts of registration processes based on nationality, race, or place of birth, we know exactly what happens in history.” she said. “Categorical deprivation of civil rights and civil liberties usually continues.”

Last week, Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem launched a multi-million dollar ad campaign encouraging people here without a “self-report” status.

“If you’re here illegally, we’ll find you and deport you,” she said.
