Some parts of Southern California will have light rain on St. Patrick’s Day with strong afternoon winds.
Most of the rain falls on coastal and mountain slopes with less sedimentation in the coastal and inland valleys. Rainfall ranges from a few hundredths to a quarter inch.
“The accumulation we saw today will be very light,” said NBC4 meteorologist Belem de Leon. “The chances of rain begin to rise in the afternoon.
“Many of us will remain dry.”
More snow is possible, especially in mountainous regions that can be dusted up to 4,000 feet.
Los Angeles has seen 2.04 inches of rain this month after six days of measurable rainfall. The average rainfall in March is 2.23 inches.
The desert allows gusts of wind up to 40 miles and 50 mph. Winds will greet in the afternoon when gusts of 30-35 are likely heading towards coastal and valley communities.
Wind recommendations will take effect in some areas at 11am and continue until Tuesday morning.
The rest of the week will look dry and warm.
Health officials are warning citizens to avoid water on all Los Angeles County beaches until at least 4pm on Monday, as high levels of bacteria are expected from last week’s rains.
