Long Beach officials are investigating the death of a woman who was found near the Los Angeles River early Sunday morning, and police say it may have been a traffic-related incident.
Following the report of the deceased, he was dispatched to a section of the Los Angeles River on Willow Street around 5:20am on July 13th, according to a press release from the Long Beach Police Department. Upon arrival, officers found a woman lying on the west side of the river bike path.
Long Beach Fire Department officials responded and declared that the woman had died at the scene.

Detectives with details of the department’s crash investigation said the preliminary investigation suggested that the woman could have fallen from a motorcycle or another moving vehicle. No vehicles were found at the scene. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unknown.
Police noted that while witnesses are cooperative, they continue to gather information.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examination Office will announce the woman’s identity and notify her near-kind.
