Apple Valley’s mother has four children born on the 7/7th to four.
Just before Nausae Drake, now 26, gave birth to her firstborn child, she called her mother while driving to school. She told her she saw a license plate that ended with four Sevens – her lucky numbers. Drake’s mom took it as a sign.
“She said, ‘Yeah, that’s because he’s coming that day,'” Drake said. “And I, no, he isn’t.”
However, on July 7, 2019, Drake delivered her oldest Kiwan.
Two years later, on the same day, she delivered Nazaiirah.
And in 2022, on the same day, she delivered Kalani.
And about two weeks ago, on July 7th, Drake gave birth to a boy named Kylova.
None of her babies were induced, and none of them arrived on their due date. Drake feels it is “a God sign at this point,” she said.
Drake is currently attending nursing school and graduated in December. She said she had experienced all of the clinical spinning carrying the Kylova.
“They tell me to stop this. I’m doing a lot, so they say, ‘You’re going to make yourself into labor,'” Drake said. “But I’ve finished my clinical practice and everything about it. I’m like, ‘I’m still pregnant!”
Some mothers have tactics to induce labor – eating spicy food, exercising, and running down bumpy roads.
For Drake, decorating for her child’s birthday party seems like a trick.
“I’m doing balloon arches,” she said. “And then, like two hours later, every time I do a balloon arch, when I lie down, the water breaks and starts to shrink.”
Drake usually goes all out for a child’s birthday, rents an Airbnb house in the pool to host big parties, and visits amusement parks such as Sesame Place, Sea World and San Diego Zoo. This year’s birthday party was circus-themed, but it didn’t go as planned.
“My mother, my grandmother, was actually in the delivery room with me and they were ready for the party, so they were like clown suits,” Drake said. “And I was also ready for the party.
Some kids are jealous when the sibling’s birthday rolls and all attention turns into birthday kids. Drake said she loves her kids sharing birthdays and they are particularly excited about another sibling, a present of the year.
“They’re already fighting him,” she said of Kylova. “They are so kind, and that’s amazing.”
So, what is the possibility that something like this is happening? According to Randall Swift, president of the mathematics department at Pomona’s California Polytechnic University, you are more likely to win the Powerball lottery 100 times than you have four children on the same day.
Instead of the four brothers, he calculated using instances of four independent individuals at the grocery store. He said the chances of all these random strangers having the same birthday are around 0.000000056349%.
However, he said these odds may be higher for mothers giving birth on the same day, depending on their individual habits and health patterns.
But for Drake, this coincidence is a blessing, she said. Seven has always been Drake’s favorite number, but now it has a new meaning for her.
“It’s perfect, it’s done,” she said.
