Almost 20 years later, the actual ID requirements will finally come into effect at US airports next week after some delays and a global pandemic have thrown the wrench into plans.
Starting May 7th, flying nationwide will require an actual ID or other verified federal identification format. This policy was first passed in 2005 by then President George W. Bush in light of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2002.
A sample of the actual California ID can be found in the photos on the DMV website. (CA DMV)
For a variety of reasons famously in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, this requirement has once again returned time and time. But now, the May 7th deadline remains firm.
To meet large demand, the selection division of the California Automobile Division will be held on May 10th, the first Saturday after requirements begin, to help residents look after their actual IDs.
The seven locations in Southern California are:
Fullerton (909 W. Valencia Drive) Glendale (1335 W. Glennork Boulevard) Riverside East (6425 SYCAMORE CANYON BLVD.) SAN CLEMENEE (Cascadita via 2727)
Four Northern California locations:
