These La Fireworks shows are choosing drones instead this year

Is there nothing like a barbecue, a pool party, or a drone on July 4th? Every time the independent day passes, the drone show is becoming a chosen finale for more celebrations, replacing fireworks for environmentally friendly aerial displays. (The photo at the top of this story comes from “Fireworks Can Never,” a head show of Sky Drones supporting the Altadena Girls, which was staged on July 1st.)

This year, Pasadena, Burbank and Pacific Palisades are choosing a more fire-safe and environmentally friendly drone show for the first time. This switch makes sense, especially given the wildfires that surrounded the city just six months ago and the ongoing fire risks in LA. Pasadena and Palisade in particular were on the direct fire path, so not taking unnecessary risks with fireworks seems like a good call. Needless to say, fireworks, like spectacular, are releasing pollutants and contributing to air pollution. (Plus Drone Show is endlessly dog-friendly, and it’s quite fun to see the words spelled out in the night sky.)

In Pasadena, the long-running American fest at Rose Bowl Stadium has been dormant for several years due to budgetary reasons. In the fourth of the past, the red, white and blue festivals have been replaced by a hometown soccer match against LAFC, a hometown soccer match. However, this year, Food Elise, the Culinary Festival, will take over the Rose Bowl for all three days of its long weekend, and the evening will end with the Independence Day Drone Show on July 4th.

In resilience, the Pacific coastal community of Pallisard is still gathering for the 78th Annual Independence Day celebration. This year’s festival looks a little different. The Palisades do a Rogers 5K run and the kids still take place in the morning, but move to Venice. However, it is important to note that this year’s event is open only to Pallisard residents and their friends and family.

Over the valley, Burbank usually fires fireworks from the Starlight Bowl, an intimate amphitheater in the mountains. However, it was not directly affected by the wildfires, but the venue was closed during the season after being hit by a fierce storm in January. Instead, McCanbridge Park Down the Hill (usually a Prime Fireview spot) hosts Starlight on the tour. It features the ultimate rock band and performances of Bruno and Hooligan. cast away).

Downtown has been leading the way in drone shows for three years. This summer, the massive block party at Gloria Morina Grand Park (the largest fourth celebration of July on the West Coast) was planning to spend an evening riding live music, food trucks and Ferris wheels at a drone show around the music center. However, due to safety concerns, the celebration has been postponed until the end of summer. “The safety of our guests, artists, staff and volunteers is always a top priority,” said Robert Gonzalez, director of Gloria Morina Grand Park, and promised that the rescheduled event will “help renew our spirit and strengthen our resilience in Los Angeles.” And in light of recent ice attacks, several celebrations in the majority of Latino districts have been cancelled completely, once again out of concerns about community safety.

However, if it’s not the fourth without fireworks, there are still many firework shows going on, from the pyro on the waters of Marina Del Rey and Long Beach to the (low-fire risk) Hollywood Bowl and Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Theme parks are also taking part in the action. Displays can be viewed at Universal Studios Hollywood, Disneyland and Six Flags Magic Mountain.

However, we choose to celebrate, enjoy and be safe on July 4th.
