(Hill) – Interior Secretary Doug Burgham said he “certainly” believes there is plenty of space on Mount Rushmore for President Donald Trump’s face.
Burgham joined Trump’s daughter-in-law and new Fox News host Lala Trump for an interview that aired on Saturday on her show “My Views with Lala Trump.”
His appearance comes days after Trump signed an executive order that gave Bulgham the power to determine whether a public monument, monument or statue removed during the Biden administration would grant the “false construction” of American history.
“The Department of Home Affairs is in charge of the National Park Service,” Lara Trump said. “The national park service is in charge of Mount Rushmore. Do you think many people will be able to see President Trump’s face on Mount Rushmore? What do you think?”
Trump says he is considering ways to serve the third term
“Well, they certainly have room there,” replied Bergham.
He added that fireworks and other celebrations will be held around July 4th, both Mount Rushmore and across the country to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the country’s founding in 2026.
It’s not the first time that the idea of placing Trump with former president of Mount Rushmore has been introduced.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FLA.) introduced a bill that would add Trump to rock sculptures shortly after he began his second term. A group of panelists from “Outnumbered” on Fox News Channel also expressed support for the idea.
If finally added, Trump will join former presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln at the South Dakota Memorial.
