The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department announced Tuesday that authorities are investigating a recent robbery in the Santa Clarita area that may have involved the use of a drone.
Sheriff’s deputies said at least three thefts were reported in a week at the gated community of Stevenson’s Ranch.
“At least three incidents have been recorded and preliminary reports suggest that drones may have been used in connection with these crimes,” LASD said.
One home security video shows the robbers rushing past a pool and out the back gate of one home with a bag of stolen valuables.
Three days later, another house in the same area was burglarized.
“Last Saturday they broke into my house and took everything away. They took everything safe, healthy, valuables,” said one victim of a recent robbery. spoke on condition of anonymity.
Sheriff’s deputies said the Nov. 17 break-in was one of at least three that occurred between 4 and 7 p.m.
“They came in at the same time, got in from the second floor, broke the window, went straight to the owner, took all his valuables and left in 30 minutes,” said one recent victim. Ta. .
Homeowners said they believed the robbers were using drones to attack their homes from the air.
“I’ve been seeing drones every day for the past two weeks,” the resident said.
Fed up, this robbery victim decided to turn the tables on his pursuers.
“I started chasing it (the drone) and followed it for a while until I saw it land behind the La Quinta Hotel,” the resident said, adding that the next day a group of men spotted him and started running. also mentioned.
He said they were wearing the same clothes as the people seen in the poolside neighbor’s surveillance footage.
Homeowners believe the robbers are using back roads and jumping fences to get into their neighborhoods.
Investigators say they have promising leads, but are urging residents to take extra precautions.
