President Donald Trump officially passed the finish line for his first 100-day inauguration this week, signing an executive order that cracks down on immigration and advances religious freedom.

Among the most consequential events of the week was a shake-up of key staff members who announced that National Security Advisor Mike Waltz would be leaving his post at the White House. Hours later, Trump tapped the waltz to announce plans to represent the United States at the United Nations.

“We are delighted to announce that we will nominate Mike Waltz as the next U.S. ambassador for the United Nations,” Trump posted on Truth Social Thursday.

“From the days of uniformed on the battlefield, in Congress and as my national security adviser, Mike Waltz worked hard to put our nation’s interests first. He knows he will do the same in his new role. As Secretary Marco Rubio continues his strong leadership in the national sector, we will make America safe for you.

That happened again this week.

Repression of the Sanctuary City

On Monday, Trump signed an executive order calling for a request to establish a list of all sanctuary cities that the Justice Department and Homeland Security do not comply with federal immigration laws.

Following the executive order, cities will receive notifications and have the opportunity to remove sanctuary status. Otherwise, you could risk losing federal funds.

Sanctuary cities are local jurisdictions that restrict cooperation with federal immigration authorities, including refusing to comply with the requests of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainees.

“It’s very simple. Follow the law, respect the law, and don’t obstruct federal immigration officials and law enforcement officials. “The American people don’t want illegal foreign criminals in their communities. They made it very clear on November 5th. This administration is determined to enforce immigration laws in our country.”

New fighter mission

Trump also revealed new plans on Tuesday to replace 21 brand new F-15Ex Eagle II Fighter Jets-based retired A-10 Waltug aircraft from Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Michigan.

During his speech to National Guard members at Michigan bases, Trump shared details about the new fighter mission and an event commemorating the 100th day.

Selfridges will be the fourth military facility to operate Fighterjets, which participated in operational services in July 2024.

Trump Announces new “serious power” fighter mission based on Michigan Guard

President Donald Trump speaks to members of the Michigan National Guard at Selfridges National Guard Base in Harrison Township, Michigan (Alex Brandon/Application) on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

“Fresh lines. That means they’re brand new,” Trump said. “They have never been anywhere. This is where they go for a long time. And I saw one of them and flew over my head, and I said, ‘What the heck is that?’ The plane has serious power. This is the best you can find anywhere in the world.

FighterJet is an updated version of the F-15C Eagle aircraft introduced by the Air Force in 1989, featuring enhanced fuel efficiency, radar and avionics, according to the Air National Guard. The jet is designed to work with other Air Force aircraft, such as the F-22 Raptor and the F-35 Lightning II fighter.

Religious Freedom Committee

Trump signed an executive order Thursday to establish a Presidential Commission on Religious Freedom. Trump revealed plans for the new committee during the National Prayer Day event at the White House, revealing that Texas Lt. Col. Dan Patrick Central will be chairing the committee.

“The last administration attacked people of faith for four years,” Patrick said Thursday. “There is a proverb that no one should reach between the doctor and the patient. I think they’ll say no one can reach between God and the believer.

The Religious Freedom Committee will produce a report assessing the threat to American religious freedom, increasing religious freedom, and examining the history of American religious freedom, according to the executive order fact sheet.

The report addresses issues that include religious education, school choice, attacks on religious places of worship, and the issues of freedom of speech for religious organizations.

Additionally, these leaders will provide guidance to the White House on policies and legislative solutions to promote religious freedom.
