President Donald Trump signed more executive orders this week, including one to overturn the Ministry of Education, fighting the judicial division and spoke to both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Voldimia Zelensky.
On Thursday, Trump announced plans to work with Congress to overturn the Department of Education. According to the US Constitution, closing an agency requires Congressional approval.
“We’re not doing well with the world of education in this country. We’ve not been there for a long time,” Trump said before signing the executive order on Thursday.
The White House fact sheet for the executive order says the directive is intended to “put over education to families on behalf of bureaucrats,” directing Education Secretary Linda McMahon to “continue to ensure effective and uninterrupted delivery of services, programs and American benefits while also taking all the necessary steps to promote the closure of the Department of Education and education authorities.”

Trump said Thursday’s Pell grant, student loans for undergraduate students, and student loan programs for others that provide resources to children with special needs will continue to exist under different institutions.
“They will be fully preserved and redistributed to various other institutions and departments.
Those in favour of closing the agency pointed to the 2024 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) released on January 27th.
As a result, Trump said without evidence that new efforts to overturn the Department of Education would allow states like Texas to provide education comparable to countries like Norway, Denmark and Sweden.
“And you have some laguards so we’ll work with them,” Trump said. “And we can all tell you who Laguard will probably be now, but let’s not get into it.”

Calling for federal judges to each
Trump called for the bounce each of District Court of Columbia Judge James Boasberg on a social media post Tuesday, urging Chief Justice John Roberts to issue a rare statement condemning Trump’s remarks.
Trump’s pushback comes from Boasberg issued an order on Saturday to halt the Trump administration from deporting some of the Tren de lagua gangs under the Alien Enemy Act of 1798. The law allows for the deportation of indigenous people and citizens of the enemy without a statement.
The flight carrying immigrants follows El Salvador, with White House press director Caroline Leavitt saying on Sunday the order “has no legal basis” since Boasburg issued it after Boasburg departed from US airspace.
Judges blocking Trump’s orders are acting “mistakes,” the White House says.

In response to Boasberg’s order, Trump said judges should be fired each. However, Roberts said, “It has been established that “permanent each is not an appropriate response to differences in opinion over a judicial decision.”
Boasberg’s order is one of multiple injunctions issued against the Trump administration, blocking various executive orders he has signed since taking office in January. The White House accused the judge of acting as a partisan activist to stop Trump’s agenda.
“I want to point out that judges in this country are acting incorrectly,” Leavitt said in a news briefing on Wednesday. “We have a judge acting from the bench as partisan activists.”
Plans for the new next-generation F-47 fighter jet
Trump also announced that Boeing won among defense companies for a contract to build the next-generation Air Force fighter jet known as the F-47.
“In my direction, I’m excited to announce that the US Air Force is moving forward with the world’s first sixth generation fighter jet,” Trump said Friday in the White House’s oval office. “Nothing in the world is even close to it. It was called the “F-47” and the general chose that title. ”

The Biden administration’s next-generation air defense initiative on backburners oversees the efforts. The Trump administration has revived the program. This was the move the Secretary of Defense said Friday that it would “send a very direct and clear message to allies that we are not going anywhere and enemies that can project force around the world.”
Trump said the experimental version of the jet has been flying badly for “year.”
“The F-47 will be the most advanced, most capable and deadly aircraft ever built,” Trump said.
Zelensky’s phone call with Putin
Trump also spoke on the phone this week with both Putin and Zelensky in an ongoing effort to end the war in Ukraine.
Following the call, both Russia and Ukraine agreed to a limited ceasefire over energy. The next step is to hold a meeting to navigate how each team can reach a complete ceasefire, according to the White House.

“The technical team will meet in Saudi Arabia in the coming days and discuss spreading the ceasefire to the Black Sea on the way to a full ceasefire,” the White House said in a statement Thursday. “They agreed that this could be the first step towards ensuring a full end and security of the war. President Zelensky thanked the President for his leadership in this effort and was reiterated to adopt a full ceasefire.”
