R-Ky. Rep. Thomas Massey joined progressive Locanna MP d-calif on Sunday seeking a subpoena for Jeffrey Epstein’s estate.

Massie and Khanna announced the move and the accompanying laws during their “this week” co-star to ABC News with host Jonathan Karl. In addition to the subpoena call, the pair’s laws would enforce House votes on the government’s Epstein File release.

“Well, I think we should get more than just books. Let’s get the financial records of the real estate. Where is it – as they say here, follow the money,” Massie said. “We should see the bargain of pleas. Open it. What was the deal?

Massey also said Americans should see a birthday letter that President Donald Trump believed to have written to Epstein in 2003. The letter was first reported by the Wall Street Journal, but Trump denied it existed and sued the paper for defamation.

Lawmakers say their laws will force Epstein’s property and the federal government to publish all files related to Epstein’s crimes.

“It enforces the full release of a file. It has the power of the law. It is not a subpoena. It is ‘not a clean, do you release the file?’ It is the power of the law, and there is protection to edit the victim’s name and prevent the release of child porn,” Massie said.

House Speaker Mike Johnson avoided scheduled votes on the law last week by starting an August break one day. Johnson appeared on NBC News “Meet the Press” on Sunday, and was called Massie and Khanna to promote the law.

He claimed he was in favor of “maximum disclosure” of the Epstein Files, but he argued that there was no safety measures in Massy and Kanna’s law.

Many Republicans have criticized Democrats for putting a lot of emphasis on the Epstein case now that it has become a problem for the White House. Critics say that Kanna has denied these claims but after years of showing little interest in the issue, Democrats are plagued by the topic.

“We’ve been pushing for transparency during the Biden administration. In both 2021 and 2024, the court ordered the release of the documents, but Donald Trump raised his interest. He did that with a justified campaign.
