Approximately 55,000 workers from Los Angeles County are preparing to take a strike Monday night.
The strike is expected to begin at 7pm and continue until 6:59pm on Wednesday.
LA County expects libraries to work with reduced resources, and says libraries could be closed completely in some locations.
This means that many families and community members may not be able to get that help until the strike is over, using libraries for WiFi and obtaining important social services.
The beaches and ports in LA County will also be affected. That includes Malibu, where wildfire debris could be cleaned at the beach during a strike.
LA County says beach toilets are closed and maintenance on the county’s beaches and Marina del Rey could also be stopped.
Other county services that can be closed or performed on Tuesday and Wednesday on reduced or reduced schedules include non-urgent health clinics, school-based wellness centres, 47 middle and high schools, substance use help centers, and the offices of the Auditor Governor.
Public works like garbage and camp issues are also delayed.
This is not the first time a member of the SEIU union has left his job, known as “unfair labor practices” in LA County.
The county says it will do its best to maintain its critical services, but many people living and working in the area will feel the ripple effect of this strike over the next few days.
Thousands of SEIU workers are expected to march in downtown LA on Tuesday morning.
