Los Angeles police on Monday called for public support by finding what they call a series of hate crimes, including three men suspected of attacking a 61-year-old transgender woman multiple times in a business in the Westlake area.
Rampart Division’s robbery section detectives believe there may be additional casualties and say they have entered the victim’s store on April 8, where they later flirted with her and released surveillance photos of the suspect following the suspect’s report of punching her to the ground after she refused to make progress.
The suspect later discovered the victim was a trans woman and allegedly sexually assaulted her before he threatened to “retreat” and kill her.
Police said the same suspect returned to the location multiple times with additional suspects and committed hate crimes against the victim. The hatred crime against the victim involves one of the suspects attacking the victim on a skateboard, deploying pepper spray, and throwing unknown liquid substances at the victim as if another suspect had tried to abandon her with Taser.
Anyone with additional information about the crime was urged to call Rampart Division Robbery Detectives at 213-484-3495. Calling on non-business hours or weekends must be made at 877-527-3247. Scammers who like to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
