The three suspects with the baby were arrested in a series of retail thefts targeting a Southern California store.

The suspect, all Bakersfield residents, were identified as follows:

Janaih Unique Bolden, 24 Xzayvia Somoan Peterson, 29 Joshlyn Lavette Bell-Sanders, 34

Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies have launched an investigation after reporting loss prevention workers and Old Navy from Bath & Bodyworks were targeting stores in the county.

Investigators said the trio is in charge of thefts in Los Angeles, Orange and Kern counties.

On July 23, detectives were warned that the group was reportedly stolen from thousands of Oaks shops. The lawmakers tracked them down and after seeing them leave the old naval store at Yang’s Marketplace, deputies confronted the trio and took them into custody.

The suspect brought a three-month-old infant during the theft. They allegedly used a baby stroller to hold and hide stolen items.

During the arrest, detectives discovered more than $5,000 stolen items in the suspect’s car taken from sports equipment for Ross, Old Navy, Gap and Dick.

One suspect, Bolden, had a large magnet in her possession. Authorities said thieves are often used to overthrow security devices.

The three-month-old baby, Bolden’s daughter, was taken into custody by a social worker at the Child Protection Services in Ventura County.

All three suspects were arrested on numerous felony charges. Additionally, theft targeting CVS and Bath & Body Works stores has been reserved in previous cases starting in March 2025.

They were charged by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office with three counts of organized retail theft, two counts of commercial robbery, two counts of major theft, possession of one misdemeanor’s robbery tool, and one misdemeanor child risk.

The prosecutor said the special allegations were also filed “due to the refinement of their crimes.” Bell Sanders and Bolden are held on $10,000 bail, while Peterson’s bail is set at $20,000. All three are scheduled to appear in court on August 25th.

Anyone with information regarding organized retail theft, vehicle/vehicle part theft, or cargo theft is advised to call the Ventura County Organization’s Retail Theft Task Force at 805-383-8703.

Anonymous tips can be provided to LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at lacrimestoppers.org.
