Todd Chrisley was released from Pensacola federal prison after Trump allowed him

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) – The day after President Donald Trump was forgiven, reality TV star Todd Chrisley was released from a federal correctional facility in Pensacola, Fla. on Wednesday.

“On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, we can confirm that Todd Chrisley was released from custody of the Prison Bureau,” the Prison’s Public Affairs Office said in an email to WKRG on Nexstar.

Chrisley, known for the program “Chrisley Knose Best,” was convicted in 2022 along with Julie, the wife of bank fraud and tax evasion. Todd was sentenced to 12 years, while Julie was sentenced to seven. Both Chrisleys reported to their respective prisons in January 2023.

On Tuesday, May 27th, Trump called his daughter, Savannah Chrisley, informing her that he was forgiven her parents. White House officials shared a video of the conversation from an oval office.

“Your parents will be free and clean. I hope we can do it by tomorrow,” Trump said in a phone video.

“I don’t know them, but please give them my respect,” he added.

It is unclear when his wife, Julie, will be released. She was sent to a Kentucky prison.

“Chrisle Knows Best” ran from 2014 to 20203, documenting the couple’s lives in Georgia.

Savannah Chrisley spoke at the Republican National Convention (RNC) last July, where she used her remarks to assert her parents as victims of the “two-faced judicial system,” reflecting the rhetoric used by Trump and his supporters to downplay his legal issues.

On Wednesday, she posted a photo of her playing cards in her oval office on Instagram. She writes: “God is still writing your story. He is not late. He is not far away. He is not finished.

She spoke briefly with the media ahead of her father’s expected release.

Chrisleys’ lawyer, Alex Little, said Tuesday that Trump’s pardon would “fix the deep injustice” that celebrity couples were “targeted because of their conservative values and popularity.”

Julie Chrisley was scheduled to be released in January 2028 before she was forgiven, according to the federal prison website. Todd Chrisley remained in jail until September 2032.

At the couple’s trial, prosecutors said Chrisleys has not yet become a TV star when they and their former business partners obtain fraudulent loans by filing false documents with Atlanta-area banks. According to prosecutors, the new loan was taken out to pay off the old loan until Todd Chrisley filed for bankruptcy.

Chrisleys’ defense attorneys alleged that IRS officials had falsely testimony at their trial, and prosecutors argued that they lacked evidence to support the conviction.

A committee of judges for the U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Crulis’ conviction last year.

Brett Samuels of the Hill and the Associated Press contributed to this report.
