The top advisor to the Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses was escorted from the Pentagon on Tuesday and took administrative leave, according to a Department of Defense official.
Reuters first reported that Caldwell was on leave due to “fraudulent disclosure” of information in an investigation into the Pentagon leak. The official confirmed with Fox News Digital that Reuters’ report was accurate but refused to comment on the ongoing investigation.
Previously working in a restraint-oriented think tank defense priority, Caldwell was a US veteran, a group led by Heggs. The foreign policy pragist argued that the US should dramatically reduce its European footprint and pull out Iraqi and Syrian troops.

Last month, the Department of Defense released an investigation into “recent unauthorized disclosure of national security information,” saying it plans to use polygraphs to determine the cause of the leak.
“The use of polygraphs in carrying out this study is in compliance with applicable laws and policies,” wrote DOD chief Joe Casper staff in a note. “This investigation will be launched soon and will reach its peak with a report to the Secretary of Defense.”

He wrote, “Information identifies the parties responsible for unauthorized disclosures will be introduced for criminal prosecution.”
Caldwell did not immediately reply to requests for comment.
