A Florida man was injured after getting too close to the bison in Yellowstone National Park.
According to a news release from Yellowstone National Park, the incident took place Sunday afternoon in the Lake Village area of the park.
The 47-year-old man from Cape Coral suffered minor injuries after being hit by bison. Park officials said he was approaching the bison.
Park staff urge visitors to stay away from bison and deer, especially animals such as at least 25 yards, and remain 100 yards away from bears and wolves.
This was the first report of anyone injured by bison this year. Last year there were two reported incidents and one in 2023.
However, the latter case had a relatively happy ending. The Arizona woman suffered from a broken vertebra after being goed and knocked down her lungs, but she later said yes to her boyfriend’s suggestion at the hospital.
Also last summer, an Idaho man was arrested on alcohol-related charges after suffering minor injuries and allegedly kicking a bison with Yellowstone.
