There is clearly an insatiable desire for live film score performance in the Los Angeles area. John Williams has been a Hollywood Bowl fixture for decades, as he has recently been screening films backed by Danny Elfman and the orchestra. It’s also spilled on the music festival circuit. When the crowd at Coachella 2017 lost the collective mind surrounding Hans Zimmer’s theme performances from Pirates of the Caribbean and Interstellar, I remember its obvious origin very clearly.
So the acclaim of award-winning composer duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross bring together the entire one-day festival with the coolest and most legendary films and television composers in the lineup. Future Ruins will take over the Equesterian Center in Los Angeles on November 8th, bringing a smash lineup of people behind their favorite Moody film music, including dozens of other composers behind shows like Danny Elfman, John Carpenter, White Lotus, Stranger Things, and the Joker.
“There’s no headliner, there’s no tier. This is a visionary lineup that’s doing what you might never see again,” Reznor and Ross said in a statement (they’re also in the lineup, but you can also catch them on the forum under a 9-inch nail moniker in Reznor’s store more in September). Expect three stages at the outdoor Burbank venue, featuring a mix of electronic, live band and orchestra performances.
The full lineup is frankly surprising, with a list of performances below. Price information for Live Nation – Presented Event has not been released yet, but tickets will be on sale at noon on Wednesday, May 21st.
