President Donald Trump called the Department of Education “scammed jobs” and said he saw reports that the nation ranks 40th in the world but is number one per student cost.
Trump spoke with reporters from his oval office Wednesday afternoon and was asked how soon he hopes the Department of Education (DOE) will be closed.
“Ah, I want you to close it soon. Look at the Ministry of Education. That’s a big fraudulent job,” he replied. “They are ranked among the top countries in the world. We are ranked 40th, but we are ranked 1st in one category. Cost per student. So, the world We are ranked 40th, although it costs more per student than any other country.
Trump said the last time he saw where the US was ranked for education was ranked 38th, but then he saw it two days ago and dropped to 40th.

He even noted that China was ranked in the top five.
“The bigger it is, the top five, and that’s our … major competitor,” Trump said. “So if we’re ranked 40th, that means something is really wrong.”
The president ordered the Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE), the division led by Elon Musk, to find ways to reduce wasteful spending, and the DOE created a chopping block this week.

Doge announced Monday that $881 million has been cut in connection with the 89 DOE contract.
Of that $881 million, Doge said it would help students understand/interrogate the complex histories involved in oppression, allowing students to recognize the realms of privilege and power on a personal and collective basis. We have identified $101 million used for DEI training, including teaching educators.
“Your taxes have been spent on this,” Musk wrote about DOE spending.
Last month, Trump signed two executive orders on education. One is to remove federal funds from K-12 schools that teach critical race theory (CRT), and the other to help with school choices.

CRTs and other controversial teachings at schools have sparked backlash from parents at school board meetings across the country over the past few years. During the presidential election, Trump committed to cutting CRT, transgender ideology and federal funding for schools that promote other inappropriate racial, sexual or political content for our children. I did.
According to a national report, Trump has signed a surge in executive orders targeting federal funding at schools as test scores continue to fall.

According to a Wall Street Journal report released last week, Trump administration officials also reportedly place emphasis on plans to demolish the U.S. Department of Education.
