CIA director John Ratcliffe said Wednesday that the restructuring was underway at the direction of President Donald Trump, eliminating the agency’s “well-documented politicization.”
Trump joked at a Cabinet Secretary’s meeting on Wednesday that Ratcliffe was probably the only person he was “not allowed to talk about the great work he’s done.”
“In your direction, the CIA will deploy our own secret actions, authorities, across different locations and continents, successfully implementing national security and foreign policy priorities, advance peace, end wars, take terrorists from the battlefield, and make sure that illegal drugs don’t bother Americans.” “Unfortunately, we cannot do that to this crowd as much as we would like to elaborate on your achievements in that regard. But you and I, you and I, you and I, you have had a huge positive impact on America’s national security stance. And Americans are safe for your leadership.”

CIA Director John Ratcliffe, National Intelligence Director Tarcigabad, and General Jeffrey A. Cruze, Director of the National Defense Intelligence Agency, will prepare to testify at the House Select Intelligence Committee on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025, entitled “Worldwide Threat Assessment.”
“President, the CIA is being restructured in your direction to focus on our core missions and eliminate politics. To eliminate the well-documented politicization that has been made in the intellectual community from delinquent actors in the past, to focus on our core missions and make America safe again,” added Ratcliffe.
National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard referenced efforts to combat “politicization” within the intelligence news community at the Cabinet meeting.
“We are grateful for the privilege of leading the intellectual community towards the end of weaponization. The politicization of the intelligence news community has been going on for too long,” Gabbard said. “And it helps us build something truly lean, agile, effective intelligence community and provide that promise to Americans of safety, security and freedom.”
“Every day we work to hold deep nations accountable to end the politicization of weaponization in the intelligence reporting community,” Gabbard continued. “For the past week I have sent three criminal referrals to the media of information classified for prosecution for illegal and fraudulent leaks. There are 11 prisons under investigation. At your direction, I have revoked 67 security clearances and continue working on dedapsed documents.”
The US government has already declassified documents surrounding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and Gabbard said it is working to declassify more documents regarding the assassination of former U.S. Attorney General and Sen. Robert F. Kennedy.

“And we are continuing our extensive research into uncovering very serious issues related to election integrity, FISA illegal abuse, Crossfire Hurricanes and more,” Gabbard said. “Under your leadership, we work every day to bring that transparency and accountability that the American people deserve.”
Last month, Trump signed an executive order instructing the FBI to immediately classify files related to the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. This was launched in 2016 when members of the Trump campaign called for information on whether they conspired with Russia during the presidential election.
At the Cabinet meeting, another US intelligence agency, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, separately acknowledged that several federal agencies gathered under the leadership of the president to capture terrorists. Thirteen service members from the US and around 170 Afghan civilians were killed when an ISIS-K suicide bomber exploded at a Kabul airport.

One of those institutions was the CIA. Ratcliffe told the CIA’s gathering of rallies that the CIA “providing the intelligence reporting agency that led to the arrest of the monastery’s gate bomber, and is currently being charged by our great attorney general and providing a measure of justice to 13 families who suffered as a result of that tragic withdrawal of Afghanistan during its last administration.
Trump reiterated at the Cabinet meeting that what happened at the monastery was “disgrace” under the Biden administration, and that U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondy is working to indict suspects in the attack. The Justice Department announced last month that ISIS-K’s Mohammad Sharifullah, also known as “Jafar,” had been arrested on federal terrorist charges in connection with the attack and handed over to the US, who made a brief appearance in Virginia federal court.

Ratcliffe also said at the Cabinet meeting Wednesday that at Trump’s direction, the CIA negotiated and secured the release of Americans like Mark Vogel and Xenia Karelina.
