President Donald Trump celebrated the announcement of the retirement of one of two Republicans who voted against moving forward with his “big and beautiful bill.”
“Great news!” Senator “Tom Tillis won’t ask for reelection,” Trump wrote in a post about True Society.
“For all the cost-cutting Republicans I have, don’t forget you still have to be re-elected. Don’t go too crazy!
North Carolina Republican announced on Sunday that he will not seek re-election in the 2026 cycle. Tillis would have been one of the most vulnerable Republicans next year. He faced threats from Trump to face challengers after a vote against the president’s agenda on Saturday night.

Lawmakers are likely to vote against moving forward in the bill and against the final passage.

In a statement, Tillis opposed the slow, bipartisan death in Washington.
“Over the past few years, it has become increasingly clear in Washington that leaders are willing to embrace bipartisanship, compromise and demonstrate that independent thinking is becoming an endangered species,” he said.

His announcement also vows to Trump to blow up Tillis as a “ancestor” for most of Saturday evening, interviewing potential major challengers, Vice President J.D. Vance, Senate Majority Leader John Tune, Rs.D. , and his leadership team worked for the Holdout Finance Hawks.

“Many people wanted to run the primary against Senator Tom Tillis,” Trump said in The Truth Society. “I will be meeting them over the next few weeks to find the great people of North Carolina and, importantly, the United States of America. Thank you for paying attention to this issue!”
