Trump changes Ukraine’s stance after Putin meeting, peace deals and elusive

Newou can listen to Fox News articles!

I’m with President Trump: “There’s no trade until there’s a trade.”

And now, the deal seems rather elusive as he changes his stance and openly siding with Vladimir Putin despite the intense disputes from Voldimir Zelensky, who visited the White House yesterday.

Putin’s interest in peace is highlighted by his continued bombardment in Ukraine, where he illegally invaded, with the latest round killing ten people. In other words, the Kremlin dictator, except for his greatest terminology, has no unthinkable interest in peace.

See, I’m rooting for Trump. If he could somehow square this brutal, bloody war circle and end things, he would deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. And Hilary said she would nominate him.

There is the “big difference” of Zelenskyy’s two White House visits

However, negative reviews of Alaska Sitdown ranked Trump, urging him to be hit by fake news about true socials.

“If we had a summit elsewhere, the Democrats would have run and the media controlled would have said what awful it was. These people are sick!”

Well, he doesn’t like the media. Except for what we know, he enjoys sparring, thanks to his on-flight comments on Fox’s Bret Baier, and compares it to a golf game. All reporters are trying to make him make a mistake. If he doesn’t break the news, he wins. If he says he’s breaking the news, he won’t put the ball in the hole and they have him.

I watched on Sunday morning as Zelensky and the top European officials said that only Russia could end the war and that Ukraine would not surrender the Donbas region, a base of over 200,000 people.

As General Wesley Clark told me about “media talk,” passing the Donbas region, it is a “straight shot” for Kiev, making the brave Ukrainians who far more restrained the Russian war machine vulnerable.

It is somewhat encouraged that media reports say Putin has embraced the need for security forces to protect Ukraine. This means that Europeans and the United States will send troops for peacekeeping forces.

When Steve Witkoff, a special envoy who was in the room during Putin’s session, was asked about the change in Trump’s position, I thought he would deny it, but he did not. It confirms that the story is true and certainly complicates the matter.

Trump in Ukraine is spar over European leadership and key steps towards peace

German Prime Minister Friedrich Merz said over the weekend that “the ceasefire was his absolute most important and highest priority. So it was a joint demand and he would have wanted a ceasefire first. The Russians clearly didn’t want to do that.”

So, what is President Putin giving up? As far as I can see, there is nothing. Everyday without a ceasefire is another day when the indicted war criminals solidify their battlefield interests.

And under these circumstances, does Trump expect the Ukrainian president to take part in a trilateral meeting with him and Putin?

In response to Fox’s Peter Dousey, Trump said:

US President Donald Trump met Ukrainian President Voldimia Zelenkie, German Prime Minister Friedrich Mellz, French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Melloni, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Melloni, in negotiations to end the Ukrainian War at the White House in Washington, DC on August 18th (August 18th, 2025)

Zelensky, who repeatedly praised Trump, had no intention of making the same mistake twice after being forced out of the White House in February by meltdown.

“So we need to stop this war and stop Russia. And we need to support our American and European partners who do our best for this. And we show that we are strong people, and we support President Trump’s idea of a unified system to stop this war, create diplomatic ways to end this war, and we are ready for our bravery as president.”

Back from Alaska, Trump begins a week with important diplomatic talks over the Ukrainian war

Now it surprised me. He is willing to sit with Putin and Trump after first insisting a ceasefire. Was this also the president’s position until after cooperation with the indicted war criminals, he flipped through it and abandoned it?

So, what was your mood after that?

“I am collectively optimistic that we can reach an agreement to stop future attacks on Ukraine,” Trump said. He added, “I feel you and Putin are going to work out something.”

Zelenskyy added, “I praised the specific constructive meeting.”

But will Putin, who views Zelenskyy as an unlawful leader, attend?

All chatter about the red carpet and other atmospheres is pointless. Yes, Zelenskyy was wearing a suit, although it was a military style.

We all need to support Trump. Even if he is short of it and the war is dragged down, it can only end with a negotiated settlement.

At one point, Trump left the session and called Putin.

Trump posted that this was a “very good early steps” and that early stage might be a surgical term. War can certainly be dragged over. But it cannot end on the battlefield. Despite his now openly siding with Vladimir Putin, we would not have been able to get it before without Trump’s unique preference for leader-to-leader talk. It can produce results, and sometimes it’s not like Kim Jong-un. But it’s given him and us a shot.

Howard Kurtz is the host of Fox News Channel’s MediaBuzz (11am to 12pm Sunday). The Washington, D.C.-based member joined the network in 2013, regularly appearing in special reports with Bret Baier and stories with Martha MacCallum among other programs.
