President Donald Trump is stepping up federal enforcement in Washington, D.C., to crack down on crime in the country’s capital, and deploying additional federal law enforcement agents this week.

Supported by the White House, the executive order in March, each federal agency and local officials, we will work together to drive DC crime.

D.C. residents can expect an increase in federal enforcement, which begins as early as Friday, officials said.

“Washington, DC is an incredible city, but sadly, it has been plagued by violent crime for too long,” White House spokesman Carolyn Leavitt wrote a statement to Fox News Digital. “President Trump is committed to making our country’s capital safer and even more beautiful for residents, lawmakers and visitors around the world.”

Trump threatened to federalize Washington, D.C. on Monday, asking local minors and gang members over the age of 14 to be charged as adults after reporting a former government efficiency (DOGE) employee being violently beaten in the city by two boys.

White House officials told Fox News Digital that efforts to revitalize the capital are an ongoing priority for the president.

Federal officials will monitor the status of DC Sanctuary City to ensure compliance with federal immigration laws and assist in full recognition of the district’s forensic and crime labs to support local investigations.
