President Donald Trump quickly responded to the fledgling riots in Los Angeles County over the weekend by revitalizing the National Guard.

Trump’s decision to federate 4,100 National Guard soldiers and deploy hundreds of Marines is currently a Gav who is moving Trump to appeal. Faced with strong objections from Gavin Newsom. But Trump’s agent says it was a necessary step for the National Guard to counteract the riots so that it didn’t reach the scale of what happened nationwide after George Floyd’s death on May 25, 2020.

Homeland Security Secretary Christy Noem said Trump’s decision would prevent scenarios like Minnesota Gov. Tim Waltz that year.

“This is one of the reasons why these National Guard soldiers have been federated, so they can use their special skill set to maintain peace,” Noem said in a recent television interview. “We’re not going to make the 2020 repetition happen. If you remember, it all happened in the state of Tim Waltz in Minneapolis… and Gov. Tim Waltz made a very bad decision.”

Waltz tried to “save him” to Trump after the governor “had his city on days,” Noem said.

Waltz revitalized Minnesota’s National Guard on May 28th, with looting and arson already appearing in the state in response to Floyd’s death. Within hours of Waltz announced that he had mobilized National Guard soldiers, the mob burned the police station in Minneapolis.

The waltz was to activate the entire Minnesota National Guard, but his hesitation prompted Trump to blackmail him on May 29 to federate soldiers “to get the job right.”

By May 30, Minnesota’s National Guard announced that the governor had mobilized it fully and marked the “largest domestic deployment” in its history.

During these riots, Trump was far more prejudiced to the governor, some of which saw their cities have been destroyed by riots, looting, arson, violence and death. The Democratic governor struggled to balance his attitude of law and order with sympathy for those who were unhappy with police brutality.

The National Guard is a state-based military, with the governor and the president sharing their authority over it. Governors are usually aware of their respective National Guard units, but the president can call them to federal services in a particular scenario.

June 3, 2020, R-Ark. Sen. Tom Cotton of the Trump administration has put pressure on the New York Times Ed, which allows the president to federate the National Guard. The prospects were so controversial that the newspaper retracted the manipulation, citing a hard blow from readers.

By June 4th, the governors of 32 states and Washington, DC had revitalized a total of more than 32,000 National Guard soldiers due to chaos across the country.

DHS Deputy Secretary Troy Edgar echoed Noem’s remarks in an online statement Monday, saying Trump moved very quickly because he didn’t want the same level of violence and damage as in 2020.

Trump and Noem “will not allow violent extremists to threaten and close law enforcement in L.A.,” Edgar said. “This is not the summer of 2020. We thank the brave men and women of the National Guard for protecting federal buildings so that immigrant staff can keep us safe.”
