On Tuesday, the Trump administration proposed to dismiss a civil lawsuit that ordered Kilmer Armando Abrego Garcia to be returned to the United States, claiming that the case is now “controversy” given that he is now returning to US custody.

In the application, Trump administration lawyers told US district judge Paula Sinis that they plan to file an official motion to dismiss the case relating to “Mootness Grounds” by June 16th.

Justice Department officials “do exactly what the plaintiffs sought and what this court ordered them to do,” meaning that in order to bring Abrego Garcia back to the United States from El Salvador, he was deported in March under alien enemy laws that Trump officials found to be administrative errors.

However, the submission will do little to quell the rising legal battle surrounding Abrego Garcia’s detention and efforts to ensure his return from Salvador’s custody.

Federal Judge James Boasberg has found a possible cause to condemn Trump over deportation

Those referring to the El Salvador Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) prison at a demonstration against President Donald Trump and his immigration policy in Houston, Texas on May 1, 2025, will hold the signs to refer to on May 1, 2025.

Upon being returned to the US, Abrego Garcia was immediately sent to Tennessee, facing federal charges related to undocumented transport of immigrants, due to an arrest several years ago.

According to court documents, the Department of Justice filed the charges against Abrego Garcia on May 21. It is spurring a surge in fresh questions about the large ju appellate investigation and when the property was conducted.

Abrego Garcia’s lawyers deemed the timing of his return from Salvador’s custody as a “pure farce” and told Xinis that he plans to file a sanctions claim against the government by Wednesday with Xinis later last week.

They pointed out that Trump administration lawyers continue to tell the court that they were not authorized to return Abrego Garcia to the United States, even six days after he was indicted.

They also said, in their view, a petty charge and sanctions against the government were guaranteed. Sinnis reminded me that Maryland courts still have jurisdiction over civil cases.

Sinis suggested last month that he was being emptied for his refusal to follow the court. They describe their lack of candidness in the discovery procedure as defeating a “horse who died of frustration.”

Judge Kagan snaps to Trump’s lawyers in key cases: “All courts ruled over you.”

Trump administration lawyers tried to dispel the notion that they intentionally fled the court on Tuesday, describing the plaintiff’s actions as “hopeless and disappointing.”

“Indeed, the parties were pointing to differences of opinion on the issue of discovery as the defendant failed to share state secrets and other protected material that would have demonstrated goodwilled compliance with court orders,” the administration said Tuesday.

“But the evidence lies in the pudding. The defendant returned Abrego Garcia to the United States as ordered.”

Obama’s appointee, Sinis, previously criticised the administration for failing to comply with the court’s request for information in the case, and charged the staff with a furious eight-page order that submitted a “ambiguous, evasive and incomplete” response that said it “has demonstrated a malice refusal to comply with the obligation to discovery.”
