President Donald Trump offered some advice to former Vice President Kamala Harris if he decides to run for the governor of California.
“What she has to do, she has to start an interview,” Trump told Autkick’s Clay Travis and Air Force 1 in an interview. “You can’t get away from both of them. During Covid, he didn’t interview him, and he ran out of it for Covid,” Trump added, referring to former President Joe Biden.
According to a CBS News report, as Harris is “seriously considering” the California governor’s run, the comments tell people close to the former vice president’s decision-making process that Harris is likely to make a decision by the end of the summer.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who many consider to be the presidential candidate in 2028, is restricted from running again in 2026, opening the door to what is expected to become a massive field of Democratic candidates in search of the best office in a reliable and progressive state.

One former Harris advisor told CBS News that the former vice president was “great” appropriate for his job, noting his experiences at both the national and state level.
“At the national level, what Newsom can do with that job is that there are many benefits to what she can do as the fifth-largest economic governor by her name ID, especially when our party is looking for national leaders and California,” the former adviser said.
However, Harris is also faced with questions about how she handled her bid for the president.

After Biden dropped out of the race and immediately supported Harris, the vice president sat down for 39 days for an interview, then appeared on August 29th along with Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz.
When Harris continued to accused him of dodging interviews, she picked up the pace of her appearances both in the national and local outlets, but was then faced with accusations of dodging difficult questions.

Perhaps the most damning was reportedly a potential interview with influential podcaster Joe Logan, who suggests that the Harris team has conditioned questions that the hosts could ask candidates.
Trump famously appeared on Logan’s podcast, an interview that ultimately led to podcasters ending up supporting Trump’s bid for the White House.
