Trump HHS calls for a “failed” national human trafficking hotline for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

A group of human trafficking advocates, called the “Safe House Project,” is urging Trump administration and candidate Health and Human Services (HHS) Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to reform the national human trafficking hotline.

The HHS-run hotline was launched in 2007 to provide 24/7 help to victims of human trafficking.

According to the Safe House Project, the hotline “lost all credibility” as it offers victims a variety of services, including a network of shelters, and has achieved its goal of simply ending trafficking. Not there.

After Kennedy cleared the committee’s vote on Tuesday and took a step closer to confirming him, the nonprofit said, “The statement celebrating the step, saying our country desperately needs leadership to restore it.” has been announced. [the hotline] To serve the purpose of identifying victims of human trafficking, supporting victims who flee traffickers, and helping them to bring prompt justice to those who abuse and victimize hopeless and vulnerable people. ”

In line with the Ministry of Government Efficiency’s mission to reduce government waste, the Safe House Project says HHS can reform its hotline to save tax dollar funds and save more lives at the same time. It’s there.

“U.S. taxpayers funded the National Trafficking Hotline, but in reality they failed,” Christawells, CEO of the SafeHouse Project, told Fox News Digital.

Wells argued that people calling the hotline often have to wait more than 45 minutes, and many people were hanging before reporting trafficking cases. She also said that in many cases, hotline staff have failed to return calls or share tips with law enforcement.

If he is confirmed by the Senate, Wells said Kennedy has a “amazing opportunity” to save thousands of lives by moving quickly to increase the efficiency of the hotline.

“Again, the national trafficking hotline could save thousands, if not hundreds of thousands,” she continued. “, etc. [since] The Department of Health and Human Services oversees the effectiveness of the hotline. It is really important that the current administration prioritizes responsibility over the current hotline and actually holds it in place and ensures that services are operating the way they need to operate. “

Instead of the current hotline, Wells is urging HHS to leverage the latest technologies, such as mobile apps and AI.

Wells believes that after conducting extensive research in law enforcement and related NGOs, the government can go any further and create new systems using the latest technology that spends taxes to achieve more. He said.

“When you’re using technology, you’re really creating efficiency at scale and creating scale that’s really growing,” she said. “And I don’t think this is a solution that pays more money to the government. They are now using the dollars spent on the national hotline more effectively and seeing more effective results. I think I can do it.”

Wells said the Trump administration “already demonstrates an encouraging desire to tackle human trafficking,” but “we make sure this is a top priority for them and take the victims together. We want to play our part in ensuring that the right actions are taken. From the shadows, we will increase reports and increase law enforcement and prosecutions for human traffickers and buyers.”

“Human trafficking is happening around us. As community members, we have the opportunity to identify and respond to human trafficking. New tools are really essential to making sure that happens.” She continued. “This idea that there is an appropriate reporting mechanism and whenever you’re ‘looking at something, you’re saying something’, trafficking infiltrates and is not detected is no longer a reality. ”

“In reality, we can see more and empower lawmakers with more effective data to create more effective policies. A more robust reporting mechanism is in America. It can be brought to the goal of eradicating human trafficking.”
