When La Migra attacks workplaces, tries to enter school and vows to do more, La has no intention of rolling out the red carpet and throwing roses.
The city becomes even more difficult when Donald Trump summons 2,000 national guards to clear his immigrant foolish path, and the intense dissent of Mayor Gov. Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass.
When Trump takes him to social media and claims that “once great” Los Angeles was “invaded and occupied by illegal aliens and criminals,” and that his administration would not stop “to release Los Angeles from immigrant invasions,” we’re going to do something about it.
But is this?
Throw cinder blocks and electronic sumoters from overpasses on the 101 highway on a California Highway Patrol vehicle? Tearing pink tables and benches from Gloria Morina Grand Park and creating a makeshift barricade on Spring Street near City Hall? SME tagging, destroy old headquarters and slide the car around the bandstand of Laplacian Towel Bela?
Is it supposed to keep immigrant families safe and beat Trump?
This is what many people are tweeting to themselves after the weekend protests and the chaos that ended in downtown on Sunday night. LAPD chief Jim McDonnell called the damage “unpleasant.” Base posted on social media that “destruction and vandalism are not tolerated in our city, and the person responsible is completely accountable.” US Senator Alex Padilla told KTLA 5 News it was “counterfect”; In a statement, East Side Assembly member Mark Gonzalez denounced the “Agitator” [whose] Action is reckless and dangerous, and plays exactly what Trump wants. ”
There is a time and place in the uprising, but not when it’s a trap you’ve happily encountered. That’s what LA is dealing with now, and weeks, if not months! – come.
Trump called for the National Guard, crushing the city, moving his dream of using us as examples of other sanctuary jurisdictions, and using it as an example of what would happen if they dare to ignore him. LA is everything he hates. He is diverse, immigrant-friendly, progressive, and deeply opposes him and his xenophobia agenda. He called the security guards, but the skirmish between protesters and law enforcement on Friday in the clothing district and law enforcement on Saturday in Paramount was just as rough as the Dodgers lost in the National League Championship Series.
The president knew the development was inflammatory, but that was the point.

The National Guard confronted the main as police and sheriff’s deputies beat the unruly crowd that viewed them as invading forces, despite repeated statements that their agencies were not enforcing immigration laws. The clashes have led to visuals – protesters have flew flags from Mexico and other Latin American countries as the subject of white supremacy in the Trump administration, cars in flames, and graffiti.
Now Trump is making noise in LA like a cat on a mouse.
Currently, Department of Defense Head Pete Hegses has taken a break from his plan to scrub the names of civil rights heroes from a naval ship – instead, he is threatening to send the Marines to LA
Now Trump is roaming on social media – “Paying Rebels” and “Bringing the Army!!!” – like a crazy king. Law enforcement agencies across Southern California are now descending to LA to protect peace.
Is this suitable for Los Angeles?
At moments like this I remember the famous saying by Martin Luther King Jr. Most people who took him on the streets last weekend were rightly angry at what Trump did, and their anger against LA was adopted too easily by a few people who wanted to destroy the cover of the protest and do it.
LA is famous for being a city that turns themselves on when people have enough, from the Zoot suit riots to the George Floyd protests, the Watts rebellion in 1965, to the LA uprising in 1992.
“We may fight each other/but I promise you this: we will burn this bitch and get mad at us,” Tupac Shakur sang on “Live and Die in La.”
It’s a tendency that I can’t fully accept or condemn – because I get both. But we can always do better – and we usually do. LA was also an immigrant-free city in 2006, with hundreds of thousands of people marching peacefully on the streets of the now-substantial downtown. A place where students organize strikes and sit-ins to fight for better education. Working class people are set in election upset over their power.
Rebellions in LA don’t always require literal flames. For the brightest and longest burning thing is moral and philosophical.

So I challenge all people, against Trump’s war against La and all those who have itching to do something about it – it should be all Angeleno now –
Chucking rocks in a police car is easy. Why not become a California political prisoner and President David Fuerta, who was arrested Friday when a law enforcement van allegedly prevented execution of a search warrant?
It’s an old hat to light a trash can in the middle of the street. How about providing shelter to undocumented families living with the horrifying reality that may soon happen? It is LA tradition to run through downtown without a real destination. How about joining many immigration rights groups that have set up a quick response network to show where LAMigra does?
The federal government doesn’t play, but LA doesn’t show the world what we’re doing with the best of our ability.
