Protests over the ice attack in Compton escalated Saturday afternoon when protesters set fire to it. This is one of several hot scenes across Los Angeles, where President Trump led thousands of National Guard forces to deploy in the region.
In dramatic footage shot by the Stringer Service Key News Network, the white sedan is completely enveloped in flames in the middle of the intersection of the Atlantic and Alondra Boulevard.
KNN reported that several protesters dispersed the crowds, influenced by measures of crowd control, such as pepper balls and flash bangs.
The protests sparked by the ice attacks on Friday and Saturday continue to erupt across the Los Angeles area, but some have become violent and tensions have risen between local and federal officials.

On Saturday evening, Governor Newsom announced at X that the state had deployed additional California Highway Patrol units “to maintain safety on the Los Angeles Highway.”
“The federal government is sowing mixed chaos, so they can make excuses to escalate,” the post added. “That’s not the behavior of a civilized country.”
In a follow-up post at 5:13pm, Newsom shared the news that the federal government has “begun to take over” the state’s National Guard, calling it “deliberately inflammatory” and said it “just escalates tension.”
“The security guards have been providing excellent service to LA during their recovery,” Post said. “This is a wrong mission and erodes the trust of the people.”
Less than 10 minutes later, President Trump threatened to increase federal forces in his next post on True Society.
“If California Governor Gavin Newscum and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass can’t do their job, and if everyone knows they can’t, the federal government will solve the problems, the riots and the looters, the ways to solve them!!”
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has since posted a statement to X, calling it “a difficult time for our city,” referring to both the federal immigrant sweep and the ongoing recovery efforts following the fatal January wildfire.
“Reports of uncertainty outside the city, including Paramount, are deeply concerned about reading Bass’ statement. “We are in direct contact with officials in Washington, D.C., and working closely with law enforcement to find the best path forward.”
The White House immediately issued a statement, which announced that Trump would officially deploy a National Guard of 2,000 people and “deal with the lawlessness that Fester was allowed.”
Schools in Los Angeles will distribute “red cards” to immigrant families to assert constitutional rights.”
“Recently, violent mobs have attacked ice officers and federal law enforcement agencies running basic deportation operations in Los Angeles,” the statement read. “The Trump administration has a zero-tolerance policy against criminal activity and violence, especially when the violence seeks to be the law enforcement officers that are trying to do their job.”
The statement also explicitly calls for party leaders, saying, “California’s reckless Democratic leaders have completely abandoned their responsibility to protect their citizens.”
Joining a conversation with Multi-Social Media Platforms, FBI Director Kash Patel posted to X, “It doesn’t matter where you hit the police officer, how you came from, how you came here, what movements tell you.
In response to the federal government deploying the National Guard, Newsom posted another X-Post at 7:22pm. The decision said “not because there is a shortage of law enforcement, but because we want spectacles.”
“Don’t give it to them,” concluded the post. “Never use violence. Please speak in peace.”
