President Donald Trump praised the British prime minister for holding back illegal immigrant boats across the English Channel, and told British leaders he was doing “a wonderful thing.”
Trump stopped asking about his priority position and priorities of his wife Victoria ahead of a meeting at Trump Turnberry Golf Club in Scotland on Monday.
“Immigration is a big factor, a big factor. Frankly, if they’re from other countries and you don’t know who they are, are they coming from prison? “Last month we put zero people who are zero except through legal measures.”
“You’re doing great things, not good,” Trump added. So I know nothing about boats. But if the boats are packed with bad people and they are usually like that, they send people they don’t want, because other countries aren’t doing their best, and they’re not stupid people. And they send people they don’t want. And I’ve heard you take a much stronger stance. ”
Trump meets the British Prime Minister shortly after the EU trade deal
President Donald Trump will meet his wife, Victoria Starmer, at the Trump Turnberry Golf Club on Monday, July 28th, 2025.
In June, the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported the lowest total of illegal border encounters in the agency’s history. The Border Patrol has 6,072 uncertainties along the southwest border, reflecting a 93% decline in illegal encounters recorded in the same month last year under former President Joe Biden. The Trump administration released zero illegal aliens for parole within the US compared to 27,766 released under Biden in June 2024.
Priorities told reporters on Monday that the Labour government has encouraged the removal of around 35,000 people from the UK since it came to power in July 2024.
“We are extremely pleased to return people who don’t have the right to be here,” said the star.
“It’s great. As someone who loves this country – I love this country,” Trump replied, pointing out that his mother was born in Scotland. “And it’s an incredible place, a beautiful place, and if so, I’ll congratulate you.”
Trump said Europe is a “very different place” from five to ten years ago due to mass immigration.
“And they have to put together their actions. If they don’t, you won’t have Europe anymore as you know it. And you can’t do it. This is a great part of the world. And you can’t ruin it,” Trump said.
“People can’t come here illegally,” Trump continued. “And there will be murderers, there will be drug dealers. There will be all sorts of things that other countries don’t want. And they will send them to you, and they will send them to us, and you have to stop them.
Trump announces trade agreement with the European Union
Their meeting on Monday comes just after Trump struck the framework for a massive trade deal with the European Union. The transaction is not concentrated on immigration, but it has a wider impact on economic pressure on the US bloc.
At a press conference held in London earlier this month, ancestors and French President Emmanuel Macron announced a “One In, One Out” deal aimed at blocking the intersection of immigration channels. The “pilot” scheme allows the UK to detain and send back migrants who arrive on the coast on a small boat from France. In return, he agreed to accept the same number of immigrants from France who were not trying to enter the UK on a priority basis and are deemed to be legal asylum claims.
The priorities face increasing political pressure to fulfill his campaign promise to stop tens of thousands of migrants from encountering British channels.
According to British Home Office data, this is an increase of over 50% since January compared to the same period last year.
Last week, Priority announced what was considered the “world’s first” sanctions regime targeting small boat crossings targeting gangs and other entities that seal immigrants. British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said the scheme, which targets small boats and fake passport money and supplier streams, will provide authorities with a toolkit to freeze assets, reduce criminals from the UK financial system and ban criminals from travelling to the UK

After winning a landslide labor election last year, the star ended a controversial policy under a previous conservative government that allowed the deportation to Rwanda for immigrants who crossed illegal channels. To replace it, British Secretary of Interior Yvette Cooper has launched a new UK border security headquarters. It aims to adopt an enforcement and intelligence-based approach to better protect boundaries, identify new small boat routes, and disrupt immigration smuggling operations.
