President Donald Trump has announced that he has announced that he will relocate two nuclear submarines amid rising tensions with Russia after adding new tariffs to many countries.

On Monday, Trump announced a new deadline for Russia to end its conflict with Ukraine, with former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev calling the announcement an additional “step into war.”

In response, Trump made the rare announcement on Friday that he would relocate two submarines to best respond to the escalating tensions between the two countries.

“Based on the highly provocative statements of the former Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, now vice-chairman of the Russian Federation’s Security Council, has ordered two nuclear submarines to be placed in the appropriate area in case these stupid, inflammatory statements are merely more than that.”

Trump has not disclosed any additional details about the submarines, and defense officials rarely comment on the placement of submarines given the highly classified nature of their operations.

That happened again this week.

New tariffs

Trump also signed several executive orders on Thursday in relation to tariffs, including raising Canadian tariffs from 25% to 35%.

According to the Trump administration, the president has raised tariff rates due to his contributions to the flow of fentanyl and other illegal drugs in Canada. However, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney disputed the assessment.

“Canada accounts for just 1% of fentanyl imports and is working intensively to reduce these volumes even further,” Carney said in a statement Friday.

Trump also changed mutual tariffs in a series of countries on Thursday, raising Brazil’s tariff rate to 50%.

Meanwhile, Trump reached a trade deal with South Korea on Thursday, pitching in the spring, reducing tariffs on South Korea from 25% to 15%. Additionally, Trump agreed on Thursday to continue trade talks with Mexico for another 90 days.

Veterans Housing Act

Trump also signed the VA Mortgage Program Reform Act on Wednesday. This would be a permanent partial billing program that attempts to prevent veterans from losing their homes to foreclosure.

The new partial claims program under the Veterans Affairs Bureau (VA) mortgage program will allow veterans who are late in paying their mortgages, working on payments to the tail end of the loan while offering temporary interest-free loans.

“The law provides desperately needed relief to veterans and families who have fallen behind on mortgages,” Trump told reporters Wednesday. “It’s a truly amazing situation and helps us maintain our promise to end veteran homelessness. And we’re going to do that for America. We’re going to do it for the great veterans.”

Trump estimates that the partial billing program can support up to 3.7 million veterans.

“That’s a common sense law,” Trump said. “My administration is committed to doing everything possible to ensure that our veterans are treated and treated with respect in everyone in this country.”
