Donald Trump did not like the small benefits of the work the government reported in July. There he fired the Labor Statistics Committee. He hadn’t heard anyone until 10 minutes ago.
Has the problem been resolved?
Well, it’s not accurate.
Erica Mantelfer, director of Labor Statistics, unilaterally made the decision in July that the economy added 73,000 jobs. That figure was produced by hundreds of labor analysts following established rules before reaching her level.

The president, without proof, claims that this is “equipped” — to make him and the Republicans look bad — does not change the fundamental reality. The numbers were disappointing. That hasn’t changed.
The same goes for a downward revision of 258,000 jobs over the past two months.
It’s very common. It happened during the Biden administration, in some cases there were downward revisions to previous employment estimates. This is a standard adjustment where information is once again available.
But the economy is what it is. Abandoning Biden’s appointees won’t change that.

There may be problems with constant revisions, but it has been going on for years. McEntarfer should have issued a more detailed statement.
There has been an avalanche of media criticism for undermining confidence in the number that the President relies on us all.
“Shark Tank” investor Kevin O’Leary told CNN: “I didn’t agree to bang the commissioner. I don’t like it.
“The commissioners don’t do anything to gather numbers. The commissioners won’t see the numbers until Wednesday before they’re public. By the time the commissioners see the numbers, they’re all prepared…
“When I was a commissioner, we made 500,000 position revisions during President Trump’s first term,” he told CNN. “And why do we do that? Because businesses are created, they’re out of business, and they don’t really know that during this year until they settle with a true, perfect count of all businesses.”
Trump vows to replace the chief of labor statistics with “competent and qualified person.”
Of course, Democrats go to haywire. Biden’s Treasury Secretary and Chief Janet Yellen said he tore the “banana republic.”
If the president names his person, will the market and the public be sure that the number of jobs in the future is real? Or will the appointee cook a book in his favor?

Millions of business decisions have been made based on a survey of workers in labor companies, based on fair and reasonable estimates of employment.
But let’s pull back and take a look at other recent Trump actions.
The Special Advisors Office is currently investigating Jack Smith, who filed two criminal cases against Trump for violating the Hatch Act. It is a law that prohibits government officials from making blatant partisan comments. But it’s usually ignored: Trump exploded when Kellyanne Conway was accused of violating the law and was advised to be fired.
Former CIA director John Brennan and fired FBI chief James Comey are currently under a criminal investigation into what allegedly politicized the intelligence reporting agency in 2016.

Trump also ordered a criminal investigation of Barack Obama for his actions in 2016, proclaiming him guilty of “treason.”
I just remind you that in the first semester, Trump’s special advisor, John Durham, investigated all of this and didn’t accuse these men.
I know that his files have been declassified recently, but Durham writes:
“The best evaluation of the office is that the emails on July 25th and July 27th “are claiming that they came from Benaldo, a man funded by George Soros. Ultimately, it’s a combination of several emails obtained through the Russian intelligence news hacking of a US think tank.” Durham has only indicted three dwarfs.

Of course, Trump is very aggressive. Whether they are suing the media (a $16 million settlement from ABC and CBS). Targeting Ivy League College (Columbia agrees to pay a $200 million penalty). Orders an investigation into the official Miles Taylor of First Cybersecurity (known as anonymous). Along with the NPR and PBS refunds, we order federal agencies to cut ties with Wilmerhale (and say it’s because Robert Mueller worked there).
Oh, and did the current president say he ordered an investigation into pardons and other actions by Joe Biden that aimed to show that he is too mentally impaired to do his job? The former president, who is being treated for prostate cancer, dismissed the idea as “silly.”

All this will project an image of strength and allow Trump to drive the news agenda. However, it also resolved to reveal the president who is obsessed with past complaints and resolve his score with enemies he believes he has unfairly targeted.
And that’s why Erica Mantelfer suddenly lost her job.
