Secretary of State Marco Rubio laughed when President Donald Trump called his “Daddy” commander on Wednesday to give a response to NATO executive director Mark Latte.
At a bilateral meeting in The Hague, Netherlands, Trump discussed the US’s role in mediating a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Iran, saying that both countries were like “fighting like hell” and “fighting like hell” before “it’s easy to stop them.”
Latte intervened, “After that, Daddy needs to use a strong language sometimes.”
Trump used blasphemy in front of reporters outside the White House before riding on the Marines on Tuesday, saying about Israel and Iran “they’ve been fighting so long that they don’t know what they’re doing.”
At a press conference Wednesday, Rubio hysterically broke into the scene when a Sky News reporter asked Trump about his remarks.

The reporter reminded Trump, “Who is your friend?… He called you Dad.”
“Do you consider your NATO allies as a kind of child?” the reporter asked.
Trump responded with sincerity, and Rubio stood next to him and began laughing with a smile. “No, he likes me. I think he likes me. If he doesn’t, I’ll let you know. Trump said jokingly.
“He did it. He did it. He’s very loving,” Trump added Latte. “”Daddy, you’re my dad.”
The reporter pushed against Rubio in a more serious tone.

“But do you consider your NATO allies to be like children?” she said.

NATO leaders on Wednesday allowed member states to donate 5% of their GDP annually to defense and security obligations by 2035.
“You’re obviously grateful for that,” the reporter said. “But do you hope they can actually protect themselves and protect Europe for themselves?”
“I think they need a little help at first and I think they can,” Trump said. “I think they remember this day. This is a big day for NATO. You know, this was a very big day.”
“It was an amazing day not just for many reasons, but for that,” Trump added, noting how the bigger contributions have turned out over the decades. Trump insisted that it was not possible until he came.

The reporter pushed, “Do you think we can do that without you in the future? Can they do more states?”
“I mean, you have to ask Mark,” Trump said. The press conference has concluded. The president had previously pointed out that Spain was the only NATO member who disagreed to hike its defensive contributions.
