President Donald Trump has revealed that the top terrorist suspect has been arrested behind the 2021 monastery attack in Afghanistan, which killed 13 U.S. service members.
“Tonight we are pleased to announce that we have arrested a top terrorist responsible for the atrocities, and he is here now and on his way to stand up to the swift sword of American justice,” Trump revealed in his speech before the council.
The suspect has been identified as Muhammad Sharihula, Fox News confirmed.
“And especially I would like to thank the Pakistani government for arresting this monster,” he said. “This was a very important day for the 13 families I actually knew well.”
The Biden administration’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan led to 13 US Marines, one naval corps and one sailor defending Kabul Airport, leaving hundreds of Americans and tens of thousands of Afghan allies in the country under Taliban control. At least 170 Afghan civilians were injured in the attack.
Conservative critics such as R-Texas Senator Ted Cruz said the withdrawal paved the way for enemies such as Russia to invade Ukraine.
The Taliban claimed control of Afghanistan after its withdrawal.
