President Donald Trump said the US would send patriot missiles to Ukraine, describing Russian President Vladimir Putin as the leader who “was a good talk leader and then bombing everyone in the evening.”
Trump made his remarks as NATO Executive Director Mark Latte plans to meet with the president on Monday and Tuesday during his visit to Washington, D.C. Last week, Trump revealed a new NATO deal that will allow us to flow through the Allies to Ukraine.
“I’m going to hold a meeting with the Executive Director coming tomorrow. But we’re basically going to send them different parts of the very sophisticated military. And they’re going to pay them 100%, that’s how we want,” Trump told reporters on Sunday.
“I still don’t agree with that number, but they have some, because they need protection. But the European Union is paying for it. We don’t pay anything. But we send it, and that’s good news for us, they desperately need it.”

The development came after the Pentagon previously freed the shipment of important weapons to Ukraine, including patriot missile interceptors and 155 mm artillery cannons.
The outage was driven by the Secretary of Defense of Policy Elbridge Colby after a review of US ammunition stockpiles that showed dangerously low reserves, politics first reported in early July.
The Pentagon then reversed the course after about a week.

“At President Trump’s direction, the Pentagon has sent additional defensive weapons to Ukraine so that Ukrainians can protect themselves while they strive to ensure lasting peace and stop the killings,” said Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell. “The POTUS framework for assessing military cargo around the world remains in effect and is crucial to America’s first defense priorities.”
