President Donald Trump is confident that if Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani is elected mayor, he will “smash” New York City, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said.
Leavitt issued a statement during Monday’s press conference, submitting multiple questions from reporters about Mamdani’s victory in the Democratic mayoral primary.
Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doucy asked Levitt about his recent call for Mamdani to be deported.
“I’ve never heard him say it. I’ve never heard him call it. But he certainly doesn’t want this individual to be elected. I was telling him about it. [Mamdani’s] The radical policy that completely crushes New York City is clearly a city the President cherishes close to his heart,” replied Levitt.

Leavitt went on to say that Trump is willing to work with Mamdani if elected, but she predicted that the relationship would be difficult.
“The president always wants to work with everyone. He works with Democrats, Democrats governors around the country. And he said he will work with people on the far left. He works with Republicans. He works in the middle.
“But who holds these values, literally communists, and who condemn all the values that make this country great certainly condemn all the values that make this country great: common sense, law and order, low taxes, working hard, earning your sustaining in this country. He opposes all of that.

Mamdani, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist, defeated the crowded field of founding favourite and former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and other candidates in the Democratic mayoral primary last week.
Liberal Podcast host Donny Deutsch called out Mamdani on Monday for refusing to condemn the phrase “globalization of intifadas” while appearing on MSNBC.
“I’m furious that there’s a candidate for New York Mayor Mamdani. Mamdani can’t blame the words “globalize the intifada” and “Well, that means something different for different people.” Quoting the October 7 terrorist attack and the attack on Boulder, Colorado, Germany said.

Mamdani had several opportunities to condemn the phrase “Intifada globalization” in an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday, but he refused.
